Go Daddy - NectarTECH Message TranscriptsFull Story: How Go Daddy Lost A Long Time Customer To A Phisher January 14, 2006
From: Nick - NectarTECH Dear Abuse, We have already twice taken action and removed the offending contents on the compromised host. The server in question is a customer machine which is in NO WAY connected to our main company domain, nectartech.com which GoDaddy has shut down. The offending content was removed days ago, yet GoDaddy has suspended the domain as of Friday (01/13/06). This action was obviously done in error. We have already sent THREE prior notices to abuse@godaddy.com outlining the exact disposition of this case. We kindly request that this situation be rectified immediately. Please DO NOT respond to abuse@nectartech.com or any @nectartech.com address since associated mail to this domain is down. Our ticketing system is also down, as well as authoritative nameservers. As such, this action is causing us financial harm as a result of lost business and new orders which are unable to be fulfilled. Be aware that this domain is the main POC for an entire datacenter controlling hundreds of dedicated and colocated servers which are under our immediate control. Please contact me immediately at 408-930-8776 or my partner, Marc Perkel at 415-987-6272. Regards, Nick Mariani
From: abuse@godaddy.com Dear Nick Mariani, Your domain name, NECTARTECH.COM, has been re-directed because your site had an active "phisher" on the domain name. A screen shot of the phisher has been enclosed with this message. At this point you have two options: ----- Option # 1: Remain a Go Daddy customer, reactivate your domain name. If you wish to remain a Go Daddy customer and reactivate your domain name you must reply to this message with the following: 1. A statement that you will not initiate, or allow a third party to initiate, this type of malicious activity in the future. 2. A statement that you have reviewed Go Daddy's terms of service policies, with your assurance that these policies will not be violated in the future. Go Daddy's Legal Agreements and Terms of Service policies are located on Go Daddy's "Legal Agreement" page. Click the following link to access Go Daddy's "Legal Agreements" page: https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/agreements.asp. 3. Authorization for GoDaddy.com to charge the credit card on file for your account a non-refundable $199 reactivation fee (you may want to log into your Go Daddy account and confirm that the card on file is valid and has not expired). Please understand that if the problem persists, after your domain name has been reactivated the first time, the services in question will be immediately canceled. ----- Option #2: Move your domain name account to a new registrar. If option #1 is not agreeable to you, or you are unable to abide by Go Daddy's policies, you will need to transfer your domain name to another registrar. If you wish to transfer your domain name to another registrar, we first require that you pay a $50 administration fee before your domain name can be transferred. This fee is used to cover the costs of responding to or "cleaning up" the outstanding complaints Go Daddy has received regarding your domain name. You will need to provide the following in your reply: 1. A statement that you will initiate the transfer of your domain name to a new registrar within the next 24 hours. 2. Authorization for GoDaddy.com to charge a $50 administration fee to the credit card on file for your account (you may want to log into your Go Daddy account and confirm that the card on file is valid and has not expired). ----- Every Go Daddy customer that has a domain name suspended for violating Go Daddy's Policies must choose one of these options if they wish to resolve the situation. These options are not negotiable. The fees cannot be reduced or waived. We appreciate your cooperation and willingness to address this issue. Please let us know what course of action you choose to take. If you wish to discuss this situation via telephone Go Daddy's Spam and Abuse Department can be reached at 480-505-8894. Sincerely,
Spam and Abuse Department |
