Dan Kaplan, SC Magazine: Eugene Kaspersky wrote, “Unfortunately, there are relatively few products available in shops or on the internet that offer even close to 100-percent protection. The majority are unable even to guarantee 90 percent protection.”

Kaspersky’s comments are a refreshing admission from an industry that often takes days after an outbreak to come out with a solution for those who subscribe.

A more proactive solution may derive from a smart firewall that relies less on signatures, and more on heuristics. But when you consider the lost subscription files, it’s easy to see why that isn’t likely to happen in the near future.

That’s one of several reasons you won’t hear Kaspersky mention it.
